Mike Flewitt will expand the British manufacturer's portfolio.

Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) has appointedformer McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewittas its new Chairman.

According to BAC, Flewitt's arrival strengthens its senior leadership team at a critical time. BAC continues to enjoy relatively massive demand for its single-seater Mono supercar, and it's set to introduce new models and expand into new global markets in 2023.

Flewitt is a well-known figure in the automotive industry. Like Ford's CEO, Flewitt is a lifelong enthusiast and racer, which makes him a perfect fit for an automotive company as focused as BAC.

Flewitt was in charge of McLaren's road car division from 2013 to 2021 and was responsible for just about every McLaren supercar from the 650S to therecently departed 720S.

His experience in successfully industrializing products and getting them from concept to production is extremely valuable to BAC. The UK-based automaker will soon implement its next-stage scale-up plan and new product development.

BAC hit a milestone in December 2022when it built the 150th Mono. It was a fine example of the more hardcore Mono R, essentially the only update BAC has made since the car was introduced in 2011. In early 2022, BAC announced that it wasworking on hydrogen powertrain technology, and that's it.

Perhaps BAC is working on a two-seater Mono so you can scare passengers? Like aMazda Miatawith a cocaine addiction. Or it could further refine the Mono and build a closed-roof alternative to thebarely street-legal KTM GT-XR.

"I have long admired what Neill and Ian Briggs have achieved with BAC and their unflinching determination to engineer one of the finest driving machines on the planet. The single-seater Mono and Mono R supercars are extraordinary accomplishments that could have only been created by continuously pushing the boundaries of automotive technology," said Flewitt.

"We are elated that an industry leader of Mike's incredible caliber has joined BAC as Chairman," said Ian Briggs, BAC co-founder, and design director. "His appointment marks a pivotal moment in BAC's history. Mike's results-proven expertise and seasoned counsel will prove invaluable as we embark on the next stage of our strategic scale-up."
