This is the last model year for the V10-powered supercar, and it's making a final lap at Laguna Seca this month.

The奥迪R8is one of the manycars that will be discontinuedafter the 2023 model year, and Audi has announced that the supercar will formally bid farewell to its American fans this month amid the Monterey Car Week activities.

Apart from remembering the R8's remarkable two generations, Audi is also setting up a stage to give a glimpse into its electrified future.

On Thursday, August 17, the Legends of the Autobahn event will display vehicles including two R8 V10 performance coupes, one being an RWD model. The event will also spotlight the entire Audi e-tron model range, encompassing theRS e-tron GT, Q4 Sportback e-tron, Q8 Sportback e-tron, and Q8 e-tron SUV.

On Saturday, August 19, the same R8 vehicles will be exhibited at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion held at Laguna Seca. Attendees will have the special opportunity to witness the R8's final lap on the renowned track, led by nine-time Le Mans champion Tom Kristensen driving an Audi RS e-tron GT pace car.

The Audi R8's designer, Frank Lamberty, will grace the occasion with a meet-and-greet opportunity for fans and customers. Lamberty has also conceptualized unique wraps for the R8s attending the event. The wraps will pay homage to the R8's dual character - transitioning from a road car design to a livery reminiscent of the R8 GT3 race cars - with a distinctive Laguna Seca touch on the roof.

Audi also reminds fans that it's continuing its motorsports legacy with Formula 1,happening in 2026.

The R8's replacement has never been formally announced, though previous reports speculated it will becalled the Rnext. With the industry's current push to electrification, the R8's naturally aspirated V10 will be replaced with all-electric propulsion.

However, the Rnext, or whatever name Audi will call its successor, will not share anything in common with the Huracan replacement. Lambo's entry-level supercar will reportedly use a hybrid powerplant instead of full electrification. The automaker has already started testing, which our spiescatching one in actionfor the first time last month.
