2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Leaks Early During Photoshoot

All reports suggest VW will rebadge the Tayron (sold in China) for our market as the Tiguan, giving the US audience a larger seven-seater than Europe will get. A coupe-styled Tayron X may also be available with the Tiguan badge in America.

The US Tiguan will likely launch with a special edition trim, as we recently discovered trademark filings forarugged Peak Edition trim.

The Tiguan in the rest of the world will receive gas, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid engine options. Of those, we assume we'll receive the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, with the possibility of also getting the mild-hybrid 1.5 eTSi engine and eHybrid PHEV units. The plug-in powertrain will produce 201 horsepower and 268 lb-ft and have a 62-mile range (WLTP) with the 18.5 kWh battery pack.

Set to be the final gas-powered Tiguan, the vehicle will hopefully go out with a bang. The model sold in Europe and other parts of the world is set to debut later this year, while the model sold here may not launch until sometime in mid-2024 as a 2025 model.
