But America's next-gen Tiguan won't be what you see here.

The upcoming2024 Volkswagen Tiguanhas been caught uncovered for the first time while shooting an advertisement in Slovenia. Wearing a cherry red color, the vehicle was caught in picture and video by the Slovenian publication一个vtomanijain the country's capital city of Ljubljana. Flanked by a Mercedes-Benz GLE camera car, the vehicle is seen on what we assume are closed city streets showing off to the world what the future of the Tiguan nameplate will look like, outside of the US at least.

Since this will most likely be one of the first few ads for the model, we assume this is the top-of-the-line R-Line trim, even though any trim badging is nonexistent on the shots captured. What we can see clearly is the vehicle now sports more muscular lines than before, with prominent front and rear bumpers as well as LED lighting elements that stretch across the front and rear of the vehicle.

The body of the vehicle is reminiscent of the Atlas, while the chrome trim, LED elements, and large wheels are definitely indicative of its upper trim stature. No shots were caught of the interior of the vehicle, butfrom past teaser photosreleased by VW, we know it will be dominated by two digital screens. The infotainment screen will come in 12.9-inch or 15-inch sizes, and VW has learned from its past debacles regarding touch controls.

一个s we've been learning, though, the model we're supposed to get here in the US won't be the same one sold in other parts of the world. All reports suggest VW will rebadge the Tayron (sold in China) for our market as the Tiguan, giving the US audience a larger seven-seater than Europe will get. A coupe-styled Tayron X may also be available with the Tiguan badge in America.

The US Tiguan will likely launch with a special edition trim, as we recently discovered trademark filings forarugged Peak Edition trim.

The Tiguan in the rest of the world will receive gas, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid engine options. Of those, we assume we'll receive the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, with the possibility of also getting the mild-hybrid 1.5 eTSi engine and eHybrid PHEV units. The plug-in powertrain will produce 201 horsepower and 268 lb-ft and have a 62-mile range (WLTP) with the 18.5 kWh battery pack.

Set to be the final gas-powered Tiguan, the vehicle will hopefully go out with a bang. The model sold in Europe and other parts of the world is set to debut later this year, while the model sold here may not launch until sometime in mid-2024 as a 2025 model.
