The new 911 Turbo's debut is getting closer.

It's already been nearly a year since the all-new2020 Porsche 911 Carreradebuted, which means it's only a matter of time before the 992-generation expands with new iterations of theTurbo, GTS, andGT3. While theTaycanhas been enjoying the spotlight in recent months, don't think Porsche has forgotten about its core 911 range because the new Turbo is expected to debut by the end of this year.

We got our first sighting of the new 911 Turbo in prototype formover a year agobefore the covers came off the 2020 Carrera, and now another 911 Turbo Cabriolet prototype has been caught in the wild being tested in preparation for its world debut.

This time, most of the camouflage has been removed, with only a thin layer of tape covering the rear Porsche logo. The new 911 Turbo Coupe was also caught nearly naked back a couple of months ago. Like the 911 Turbo Coupe, the Cabriolet looks more aggressive than its Carrera counterpart, thanks to its wider fenders and a large rear spoiler. As expected, the Carrera's redesigned LED headlights, new front and rear bumpers, and full-width rear light bar carry over.

The new 911 Turbo will also retain the Carrera's 3.0-liter, twin-turbo flat-six engine, which produces 443 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque in the range-topping Carrera S model. In the Turbo, output is expected to increase to around 600 horsepower, while the Turbo S could have as much as 640 hp on tap. For comparison, the current Turbo S has 580 hp, so this would be a hefty upgrade. Power will be sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.

When will the new 911 Turbo debut? Porsche hasn't dropped any hints yet, but the new 911 Turbo coupe will most likely be unveiled at the 2019 LA Auto Show in November, one year after the 992-generation Carrera was revealed at the same venue. The 911 Turbo Cabriolet will then likely follow next year.
