The first-ever Mercedes GLB SUV will arrive in dealers later this year.

Back in June, Mercedes presented the first-everGLB-Class SUVthat slots in between theGLAandGLC. Compared to the GLC-Class, the GLB's length and wheelbase is around an inch and a half shorter, but the wheelbase is over 5 inches longer than the GLA-Class.

Despite its compact size, there's still room for up to seven occupants in the spacious cabin, which gives it an advantage over its rivals such as theAudi Q5andBMW X3. It's also loaded with tech and extremely capable off-road, though don't expect it to match theG-Class's off-roading prowess. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB will arrive in dealers by the end of the year, and we now have the pricing details.

The front-wheel-drive GLB 250 starts at $36,600, plus a $995 destination charge. Opting for the optional 4Matic all-wheel drive system raises the price to $38,600, also excluding the $995 destination charge. For comparison, the GLA-Class starts at $33,950 and the GLC-Class starts at $40,700, positioning the GLB right in the middle as you would expect. As standard, the AWD version also includes an Off-Road engineering package that enables 50/50 power distribution and improves traction on rough terrain.

Both models pack a 2.0-liter, turbocharged inline-4 engine producing 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, sent through an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. With this setup, 0-62 mph takes 6.7 seconds. After the GLB 250 and GLB 250 4Matic go on sale, the more powerfulAMG GLB 35will join the lineup with 302 hp and 295 lb-ft on tap. Pricing and availability haven't been announced yet, but it should be available sometime next year.
