2023 Altima Key Safety Features

In terms of safety, the Nissan Altima is much improved for the 2023 model year, gaining a full suite of driver assists, even on the base trim, courtesy of Safety Shield 360. These include a forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic forward and reverse braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, hill-start assist, automatic high beams, and a driver-alertness monitor. No additional driver assists can be opted onto the S except for one - lane-departure warning. The SR gets lane tracing, while the SL and SR VC-Turbo add ProPILOT Assist adaptive cruise control with stop & go, following-distance control, lane-keep assist, and automatic steering on gentle curves, in addition to lane intervention, auto brake hold, traffic-sign recognition, and a surround-view camera system. Most of these features can be optionally added to the SV and up, but availability varies by trim. For example, the surround-view camera is not offered optionally on any trim except for the ones that already have it as standard.

Of course, all the traditional safety features are fitted as well; there are ten airbags in total, including knee airbags in front and side airbags in the rear, in addition to the usual ABS, stability control, and backup camera.
