2024 Hyundai Santa Fe First Look Review: From Generic To Epic

In one of the year's most dramatic transformations, Hyundai hasrevealed the all-new Santa Fethat appears to share nothing with its predecessor besides its name. Whereas the current Santa Fe has a generically rounded body, the new one has adopted an angular, masculine redesign that wouldn't be out of place on a Land Rover. Although technical specifications are unknown, we do know that this is now a more practical vehicle, with the new Sante Fe returning to a three-row interior layout that could present a threat to the brand's ownPalisade. Curved digital displays and many tasteful eco-friendly materials highlight the interior, but for now, everyone will be talking about how daring this new Hyundai SUV looks.

When Is The Hyundai Santa Fe Coming Out?

The exact release date of the Hyundai Sante Fe in the USA is unknown, but the vehicle will make its world premiere in August 2023, and its North American debut will be at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Based on this, it could be coming out late in 2023 as a 2024 model.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Price and Competition

Considering how different it is and the significant step up in design, practicality, and technology, the price of the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to take quite a jump. The 2023 model begins at a cost of $28,750 and goes all the way up to $47,670 in plug-in hybrid guise. We expect the new Santa Fe to have an MSRP range of around $32,000 to $52,000, but it will be interesting to see how much overlap there is between it and the popular Palisade.

Rivals for the new Sante Fe will include other three-row SUVs like theKia Telluride, Honda Pilot, and perhaps even the new Mazda CX-90. None of these have the groundbreaking looks of the new Santa Fe, but it remains to be seen how competitive the Hyundai will be in other aspects.

New Hyundai Santa Fe Exterior and Colors

Maybe we shouldn't be surprised about the distinctive and challenging exterior design of the new Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. After all, this is the company that has revealed theaggressive Ioniq 5 N, expressive Ioniq 6, and futuristic Sonata in recent months.

Hyundai says that the 2024 Santa Fe is based on a lifestyle-based design typology and a goal of maximizing cargo space, and while we don't know its dimensions, it looks significantly longer than the current model.

In front, there are H-shaped daytime running lights - perhaps designed this way in case anyone forgot that this is actually a Hyundai. It has a tall hood, protruding fenders, and 21-inch wheels. The mini-Land Rover look is accomplished by the blocky lines and the blacked-out A-pillars, but it's the rear aspect that is perhaps the most controversial.

h型的尾灯镜子的前面,they're positioned low down below a giant slab of tailgate with enormous Sante Fe script across it. This enlargened tailgate provides uninterrupted access to the cargo area, but it also looks large enough to land a helicopter on, so care will probably have to be taken when opening it. When open, Hyundai claims the Sante Fe offers a terrace-like feel and complements an outdoor lifestyle.

Hyundai has only said that the Sante Fe's exterior colors are inspired by natural light but hasn't yet detailed the palette. Based on this description, we can expect a range of greys, silvers, and pastel-like hues.

Hyundai Santa Fe Dimensions

现代还没有分享圣菲的维度, but the lengthened wheelbase is to thank for the newly added third row. We're not sure yet how much longer the wheelbase is over the current Santa Fe's 108..9 inches. The existing Sante Fe measures 188.4 inches in length, 74.8 inches in width, and 67.3 inches in height with its roof side rails, but we expect the new Santa Fe to be closer to the Palisade's 196.7-inch length.

Likewise, the curb weight of the new Santa Fe will probably be closer to the Palisade - that means anywhere between 4,200 and 4,500 pounds.

Hyundai Santa Fe Engine and Performance

Although Hyundai didn't officially delve into the Sante Fe's engine specs, we do know that the new SUV will come with a 2.5-liter turbocharged mill, as evidenced by the 2.5T badge on one of the press images. The current Sante Fe already has a 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, so these figures could carry over to the new model.

In the existing Santa Fe, this 2.5T engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters. With this engine, the current Sante Fe can complete the 0-60 mph run in around six seconds.

While we expect front-wheel drive to be standard, another official image shows that the brand's HTRAC all-wheel-drive system will be available. We can also safely expect a hybrid powertrain, perhaps with Hyundai's 1.6-liter turbo engine and an electric motor. Previously, a plug-in hybrid variant of the new Sante Fe was spied, and the current PHEV produces 261 hp. While it's possible that the current base 2.5L with 191 hp will also carry over, this hasn't been confirmed.

Gas Mileage

The current Hyundai Sante Fe manages 25 mpg combined with the 2.5T engine and FWD, and 24 mpg combined with the same engine and AWD. In PHEV guise, it can return up to 76 MPGe and 33 mpg combined, while managing 30 miles on electric power alone thanks to its 13.8-kWh battery. The regular hybrid is highly efficient with figures of up to 36/31/34 mpg city/highway/combined.

These figures only give us an idea of how efficient the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe may be, and considering the expected increase in size and weight, it's possible that the new Santa Fe's gas mileage could take a slight dip.

Hyundai Santa Fe Interior and Cargo

Whether it's a coincidence or not, we can see more Land Rover design influence in the interior of the Hyundai Sante Fe. The Korean has a similar horizontal design theme to the dashboard, while the tilted touch display lower down with two dials for climate control settings is similar to what we've seen in some Land Rovers before their latest update. Fortunately, there are aspects of the inside of the Hyundai that are still unique.

H-motif仪表盘上的重复,哈哈s a Panoramic Curved Display that includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster. Lower down, there are hard keys for the volume as well as functions like jumping between tracks and selecting the Auto Hold function. Dual wireless charging pads are positioned between the driver and front-seat passenger, and behind that is a large center console and cupholders. We like the way Hyundai hasn't gone overboard with the ambient lighting, with narrow strips of light flowing with the horizontal and vertical lines of the cabin.

Materials are of high quality; the seats in the Hyundai Sante Fe are covered in Nappa leather complete with smart embroidery. The leather contrasts well with the wood-patterned garnish as well as several sustainable materials. That includes car mats, second- and third-row seatbacks, and a suede headliner that are all made from recycled plastic. Eco-friendly leatherette, meanwhile, covers the crash pad and door trim covers.

Hyundai promises best-in-class interior space, with both rear rows able to fold flat fully. Cargo space in the Hyundai Santa Fe is also expected to be much improved, likely bettering the 45.8 cubic feet behind the second row of the existing model. One of the press images showed a Santa Fe with a rooftop tent, so perhaps this model will offer one of the company's most exciting selection of outdoor accessories.
