2023 Genesis G90 Performance

There are two models in the lineup, and while both get the same basic twin-turbo 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine, the top-spec 3.5T Supercharger AWD supplements the base motor with a 48V e-Supercharger for an extra 34 horses and 14 lb-ft more torque.

The sprint from 0-60 for both Genesis G90 trims is around five seconds, as the more powerful trim's extra horsepower is offset by its greater mass. There isn't a slow model in the lineup, though, and the engine is torquey and refined. Top speed is limited to 130 mph in both configurations and will make merging and overtaking on the highway a breeze. Trailering is not provided for, and it's suggested that you opt for one of the Genesis SUVs if you want to tow something.

In the G90 3.5T Supercharger AWD, it is supplemented by a 48V mild-hybrid system driving an electric "e-Supercharger" to boost the outputs to 409 hp and 405 lb-ft. All-wheel drive is standard in both trims, with no RWD available. Both powertrains also share the same eight-speed automatic transmission, and it goes about its business the same way the sedan drives - in a refined, unbothered, and dignified way.

Gas mileage is not the Genesis G90's forte, and its mpg figures are behind the best in this class, despite the top trim's MHEV system. The 3.5T AWD returns 18/26/21 mpg on the EPA's city/highway/combined cycles, and disappointingly, the MHEV 3.5T Supercharger AWD is worse at 17/24/20 mpg. Compare this to six-cylinder AWD competition, such as the Mercedes-Benz S500 4Matic, with its combined figure of 23 mpg: it makes more hp and is more efficient.

The G90's fuel capacity of only 19.3 gallons is also down on these rivals, limiting its overall range to 405 miles for the base car and 386 miles for the top trim.
