The XB7 is a standalone model by Alpina but manufactured by BMW at its Spartanburg plant. The engine and gearbox are Alpina-fettled. The result is 612 hp and 590 lb-ft, sent to the AWD system via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Alpina claims a 0-60 mph time of four seconds and a top speed of 180 mph. The XB7 also gets a bespoke suspension setup.
On the outside, the XB7 comes with LED lights, 21-inch alloy wheels, new front and rear fascias, and quad tailpipes. The upgraded interior comes with Merino leather, and 18-way power-adjustable seats with heating, ventilation, and a massaging function. Alpina also removes the iDrive controller, shifter, and steering wheel and replaces these items with its custom-made units, which feature hand-stitched leather and crystal glass. The 12.3-inch touchscreen is carried over from the standard X7, albeit with custom graphics. A 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system is stock fitted.
Standard safety systems include active blind spot assist, a parking assistant, lane keep assist, frontal collision warning with city collision mitigation, active cruise control, and a surround-view camera system. A full-color head-up display is also standard.
There are no optional packages available for the XB7, which is comprehensively outfitted as is. But a host of standalone features are available, and, considering the luxurious nature of the car, we'd add most of them. The panoramic Sky Lounge LED roof costs $750, while the Bowers & Wilkins sound system will set you back $3,400. Second-row captain's chairs ($850) are a must, as is the rear-seat entertainment system ($2,200).
