They may be drifting royalty, but the car is the star.

The Toyota brand has been doing exceptionally well of late, beating General Motors to the titleof America's best-selling automaker shortly aftercelebrating the sale of its 50 millionth Corolla. But that doesn't mean that it's time to slow down. Quite the opposite, in fact, if a new marketing campaign for theToyota GR86是的话。有类似的s of Stephan Papadakis andRyan Tuerck, the new series of advertisements highlight the fun that can be had behind the wheel of the little sports car when you know what you're doing. Pitched in a lighthearted manner, the commercials imply that drifting superstars are about to give you a masterclass in the arts of speeding and sliding sideways. Appropriately titled, this is the GR86 FasterClass.

Filmed as if for a movie, the above clip starts with the message, "When the student is ready, the master appears," before a familiar figure appears. Fans of the Toyota GR Supra and the tuning scene will recognize Stephan Papadakis from his videos detailing the build of a1,000-horsepower B58 enginewhen the aftermarket world was still unsure of whether this motor would be a worthy successor to the legendary 2JZ-GTE. Drifters will also know his name too, as a sponsor for a number of the world's finest Formula Drift competitors. Unfortunately, while Ryan Tuerck and Ken Gushi (their "class" is shown below), as well as Fredric Aasbo and Hunter Taylor, make appearances and show the GR86 breaking traction in a series of exciting maneuvers, these "professors" won't be offering you any one-on-one lessons in killing rubber.

Instead, Toyota is claiming that "the GR86 was track-tuned for this group of corner-huggers, redline-chasers, and quick-shifters." Although these drivers are all professionals, the automaker goes on to say that the little sports car "is made to unlock the true potential of any driver, on any road, for everyday driving." We've already seen a number of the world's tuners get their hands dirty putting their unique touches on the car, and there is more to come still. With a strong contingent of passionate aftermarket enthusiasts and anInitial D-style manga, not to mention the support of some of the best exhibition drivers on the planet, the GR86 is sure to only increase in popularity. We'd make the most of the opportunity before the GR86 meetswith Europe's fate.
