It also has just 115 horsepower and definitely not coming to the US.

Volkswagen has launched a super quirkyT-Roc Cabrioletin Europe in the same vane as the Range RoverEvoque Convertible一个nd Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. TheVW Taos-sized model, which is not sold in the US, launches with the "Edition Grey" limited run of cars that VW says will actually save buyers around €1,400 ($1,500) as compared to a similarly-equipped model.

That is thanks largely to "numerous driver assist systems and a range of high-quality equipment." VW will limit production to 999 cars, all of which feature the same Indium Grey paintwork with a matching grey and black interior. The company says the decision to use matte paint arose from the fact it "emphasizes sporty elegance."

Volkswagen has based the special edition on the T-Roc'sR Line trim, which isn't too dissimilar to R Line models here in the US. These feature blacked-out trim like the grilles and special "R" badging. Here, that also means black mirror caps, trim pieces, badging, and a black rear decklid spoiler. Finally, VW also blacks out the T-Roc's 18-inch wheels.

The run of features we mentioned above includes VW's IQ Drive driver assistance package. This adds adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assistance to the special edition model. A Winter and IQ Light package also adds heated surfaces and better lighting to the quirky convertible.

The Wolfsburg-based marque also offers an Edition Plus package for those looking for something even more special in their special edition. This nets you four new items: adaptive suspension, new 19-inch wheels, Discover Pro navigation, and a BeatsAudio sound system. According to VW, a similarly optioned T-Roc would be €2,400 more expensive.

VW makes it known this is a special edition, with a numbered plaque making an appearance on the door sills. The 115 horsepower base model starts at €46,470 ($49,558) and Edition Plus models top out at €51,600 ($55,028). Deliveries are slated for February next year.
