Honda has released a short video of their upcoming Civic hatchback undergoing final testing before its scheduled debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

Just before it makes its official Frankfurt Motor Show debut, Honda has released a short video and some pictures of the ninth generationHonda Civic hatchbackundergoing final testing. The upcoming five-door model has been exclusively designed for Europe and like before, will continue to be a separate model from the North American Civic four-door and two-door variants. From what we can tell in the photos and video, Honda has made the car's styling more edgy than the outgoing generation.

The hatchback will also have a heavily revised suspension that will improve the car's ride quality, handling, and overall comfort. No official word yet regarding powertrain details, but some sources have indicated that Honda will introduce a smaller displacement turbo diesel engine in addition to the 2.2-liter i-DTEC.

Honda has also announced the new Civic hatch and CR-V crossover will be built in their Swindon plant in the UK beginning in late 2011. Check out the video for more details directly from Honda development engineers.
