The Ford Mustang Mach-E Is Primed To Steal Sales From Tesla

Rumor /5 Comments

Even close to the EV's arrival, Ford continues to pull new tricks out of the bag.

TheFord Mustang Mach-E, the brand's first all-electric SUV, keeps getting better before it even arrives in showrooms. Recently, we found out that the Mach-Ewill be even more powerfulthan originally expected, with the extended-range all-wheel-drive variant now producing 346 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque.

According to a new post by a user called desertdrifter on the Mach-E Club forum, the EV may now be seeing an increase in its official range figure, too. The user heard that this is what Ford dealers have been told.

That could mean an increase in the rear-wheel-drive model's range of around 300 miles (with the bigger battery), which means it could reach or surpass the Tesla Model Y's range of 316 miles. Even if Ford surpasses the Model Y's range by a single mile, the bragging rights would mean a lot more.

Speaking of Tesla, another post on Mach-E Forum indicates that Ford is specifically training its dealers to highlight why the Mach-E is a more desirable alternative to the Model Y and Model 3. One slide from a dealer training guide is titled "What About Tesla?" and denotes the various advantages of the Mach-E, such as RWD which isn't offered on the Model Y -at least not yet.

In another comparative example, the Mach-E's lower starting price (once the $7,500 federal tax credit is taken into account) is compared with the price of the Model 3 sedan. At $36,395 after this incentive is taken into account, the base Mach-E undercuts the Model 3 by $1,595.

At the end of last year, tax credits on new Teslasofficially expired, one of the disadvantages of the EV automaker getting such a big head start in the industry. Ford will no doubt be milking this advantage at every opportunity. The Mustang Mach-E is set to arrive at dealerslater this year与生产在mid-Novembe开始r.
