斯巴鲁reveals updated versions of two of their most popular models.
There's no question that Subaru has been on a roll lately. Not only did their sales numbers remain solid despite the economic recession, they've also been rated by Consumer Reports as one of the most reliable automotive brands for 2011. With the recent launch of the all-new Impreza (their bread and butter model) along with the BRZ and upcoming XV Crosstrek, the automaker plans to unveil refreshed versions of their popular Legacy and Outback models.
For 2013, each will receive an all-new double-overhead-cam 2.5-liter boxer four that has a slightly boosted output of 173hp and 174lb-ft of torque, when compared to the outgoing 173hp 2.5-liter unit. In addition to the new engine (the 256hp 3.6-liter V6 remains optional), the Legacy and its Outback wagon variant will receive a new CVT transmission that improves fuel economy numbers to 24/32 mpg city/highway and 27 combined. Subaru claims the 2013 Legacy 2.5i remains the most efficient all-wheel drive sedan currently being sold in the U.S.
Other changes include a revised suspension for a smoother, quieter ride with enhanced agility as well as Subaru's new EyeSight driver-assist, which integrates Adaptive Cruise Control, pre-collision braking and vehicle lane departure warning into a single system. The system processes stereo images to identify the vehicles traveling in front, as well as obstacles, traffic lanes and other items. It's also capable of detecting pedestrians or other objects in the car's path and, in some circumstances, can bring the car to a complete stop. Buyers will also be treated to Bluetooth, iPod controls and a USB port.
An optional seven-inch nav screen will be available on higher-end models. The most significant exterior change is the restyled front fascia. Subaru also noted that the ride and handling are improved due to a stiffer structure and a revised suspension. No official pricing has been announced just yet.
