Renting A New EV From A Range Of Brands Just Got Easier

If you're looking for something fun and cool to rent for a few days, there are plenty of awesome companies out there that specialize in letting you live your sports car dreams, even if it's only for a few days.Hertz has a 900-horsepower GT500available andrecently added the gorgeous Polestar 1 to its fleettoo.

But what if you want an EV? Well, Porsche can let youhave the Taycan for a reasonable price, and then there are companies like US-based startup Autonomy, which offers electric vehicle subscriptions. The company originally offered theTesla Model 3and Model Y exclusively (in fact, its website still shows just those two cars), but now there's a lot more choice on offer. The only problem is that many of the new cars could be easy to steal.

Autonomy has placed an official order for 1,640 electric vehicles from Hyundai and 1,500 EVs from Kia, in a deal worth a combined $143 million. This order will help Autonomy achieve its goal of purchasing 23,000 electrified vehicles from 17 different carmakers.

"With every automaker going all-in on electric and so many exciting new products coming to market in the next six to 18 months, we have placed our fleet order and are excited to expand our subscription lineup," said founder and CEO Scott Painter.

While we would love to crack a joke about these cars not staying in the fleet for long, given the ongoingwave of thefts of older Kia and Hyundai vehicles, newer models seem unaffected, and the truth is that the Korean automakers' EVs are simply excellent.
