Porsche Broke Its Own Sales Record In 2021

2021 was not an easy year for anyone, in fact, it was pretty tough, and car manufacturers felt it just as much as other industries. Supply chain issues and a persistent lack of semiconductor chips meant that many brands couldn't keep up with demand, but despite these setbacks, many manufacturers havecontinued to set sales records. This is especially true in the luxury car market where brands like Lamborghini haveposted amazing sales figures.

Porsche America is happy to announce that it too broke sales records in 2021, which just goes to show that despite a world in economic turmoil, the rich will get richer, and spend their money on flashy sports cars.

Porsche has announced an impressive figure of 70,025 retail deliveries in 2021, which is an increase of 22 percent over the previous year, and 14 percent over its previous record set in 2019. Fourth quarter deliveries also achieved a new high of 18,410 units, while year-end orders were the highest they have ever been.

ThePorsche 911finally took back its top spot after theTaycanled sales in previous quarters, and achieved a total of 10,042 deliveries (an increase of 14 percent over last year). The Taycan made up 13.5 percent of all sales, and shared an overall sales contribution of 17 percent with its plug-in hybrid siblings.

The best performing vehicles were the Macan andCayennesuv与42岁015 units finding new homes, but the babies of the Porsche family, the Boxster and Cayman also enjoyed a massive 25 percent sales increase. Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales in the fourth quarter grew by 18 percent for a total of 8,377 cars, and the full-year figure was up by ten percent for a total of 30,024 deliveries. This is the first time that Porsche America has delivered more than 100,000 cars.
