Ford is set to pay out millions for problems with its old infotainment system.

It was greeted with moans, groans, and complaints from customers and was a heavy contributor to Ford and Lincoln's crash in J.D. Power's Initial Quality Survey at the time.Ford executives even despised the system. But how bad could MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch actually have been?

Well, if you want a financial figure on top of the bad publicity at the time, class action settlement has been reached for $17 million.Top Class Actionsis reporting both the number and the terms of the settlement.

Under the terms settled upon,Top Class Actionsreports that: "If you purchased or leased aFordorLincolnvehicle in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia or Washington that was equipped with MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch from a Ford or Lincoln dealer prior to August 9, 2013, you could get up to $400 from this settlement."

The terms of the settlement dictate that customers with MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch systems that were repaired once can file a claim for $100. Class Members that had the system fixed twice will receive $250, and those who had it repaired three times or more can get $400.

Ford and Lincoln car owners and lessees that that didn't have repairs can still put in a claim for being unsatisfied with their infotainment system, and will receive $45.

The lawsuit came about when plaintiffs filed against Ford Motor Company for the failure of it to deliver on its promise as an in-car infotainment system. Ford allegedly denies the allegations put forward in the class-action suit, and the court dealing with the lawsuit is undecided as to whether the automaker is responsible, but the parties reached a settlement in November 2018 and that settlement received preliminary approval in March 2019. Customers hoping to cash out have until September 20, 2019, to file their claim.
