Nissan And Chris Forsberg Bringing Mega Frontier Race Truck To SEMA

But not before Forsberg actually races it in the grueling NORRA 500.

TheNissan Frontieris going racing with the help of the tuning experts at Forsberg Racing andFormula Drift champion Chris Forsberg. Nissan has teamed up with the tuning specialists to prepare the mid-sized truck for the National Off-Road Racing Association (NORRA) 500 race using NISMO Off Road products only. This allows the truck to compete in the stock vehicle class and lets Nissan show off a ton of available parts out in the wild.

"The Forsberg Racing team is poised for victory with this rugged machine, combining the incredible capability of the Nissan Frontier with the targeted enhancements of NISMO Off Road parts," said Chris Forsberg. "There's no better test for this purpose-built vehicle than the exhilarating NORRA 500."

The truck has been fitted with a NISMO Off Road lift and high-performance suspension kit, NISMO 17-inch Axis Truck Beadlock wheels with Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 tires, NISMO Off Road lighting upgrades, NISMO Off Road rock sliders, and a NISMO Forsberg Racing graphics package.

Other than that, it looks to be a stock Frontier PRO-4X, meaning you get a 310-horsepower 3.8-liter V6, nine-speed automatic, four-wheel drive, a limited-slip rear differential, a dual-range transfer case, underbody skid plates, and more. Unfortunately, it doesn't get the V8 from the Forsberg-builtNISMO Frontier V8 Conceptthat debuted at SEMA last year, but we'll cut it some slack, given the V6 is a solid unit.

一个s for the actual race, the NORRA 500 offers multiple classes of racing over the course of two days, with the entire event taking place from October 19-22. Set in Baja California, Mexico, racing will start in Ensenada and then head to San Felipe on the Sea of Cortez, where they'll turn around and head back to the beach in Ensenada.

Nissan obviously wants to invoke images of its iconic Hardbody pickup winning races like the Baja 1000 and Mint 400 back in the 80s. Hopefully, the Frontier can achieve the same glory, but we only wish it could utilize the same iconic wheels recently featured on theFrontier Hardbody Edition.

一个fter the race, Nissan will take the truck to the 2023 SEMA show from October 31 - November 3, leaving it in as-raced condition so showgoers can check out exactly how well it fared. It will be accompanied by Chris Forsberg himself and a few other Nissan concepts that have yet to be announced.
