Car Mod Atrocities: Mansory Mutilates The Bugatti Chiron

Tuning /24 Comments

Tuners need to learn that, often, less is more.

Mansory is no stranger to butchering high-end vehicles, but the German tuner has taken it to the next level, turning its attention to theBugatti Chiron.

The Chiron, one of the most desirable cars in the world, is arguably an automotive masterpiece by Bugatti. The Molsheim-based brand offers customers various customization options, endless paint colors, leather hues, and all sorts of personalization choices - look at theChiron Super Sport Golden Era, the brand's most bespoke creation yet.

But if Bugatti can't fulfill your dreams, Mansory is on hand to transform your rare hypercar into a unique "Centuria." The tuning house has thrown heaps of forged carbon fiber at the Chiron. It's on the hood, which receives superfluous styling gimmicks, and the lower front bumper, which now has a more prominent splitter.

Look closely, and you'll note the headlight surrounds have also been trimmed in forged carbon fiber.

While styling is subjective, we feel the wheel arch outlets spoil the design purity and look out of place on the Chiron, a civilized hypercar. The side skirts have a motorsport flair and, admittedly, suit the rest of the body kit. Whether it complements the character of the W16-powered Bugatti is another story.

At the rear, the generous use of forged carbon fiber continues. It's relatively subtle, at least, and blends nicely with the grey and black paintwork. The rear diffuser, however is overdone, while the peculiar quad-exhaust design looks awkward and fussy.

A roof scoop flows from the roof to the engine bay and presumably helps cool the mighty 8.0-liter engine. Aside from that, Mansory has removed the stock wheels and fitted fully-forged wheels with carbon fiber trim. Sized 20 and 21 inches at the front and rear, respectively, these wheels have been specially designed for the Chiron's high-performance tires.

The interior is surprisingly subtle for a Mansory creation. Black Alcantara covers just about every cabin surface, including the dashboard, door panels, and seats. The center console, seat bolsters, and floor mats receive diamond stitching in turquoise.

The light blue shade has been applied to the steering wheel, the instrument cowl, and the slim center console stack. As for the seats, you'll find a solid turquoise stripe on the backrest, while the headrest has been adorned with the Mansory logo.

We firstclapped eyes on the Centuriawhen the tuned hypercar appeared at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. While the Mansory-fettled Chiron isn't our idea of a tastefully tuned Bugatti, thetuner has done worse before.
