GMC is Tired of Being Chevy's Twin

Rumor /102 Comments

Is a standalone GMC model on the horizon?

It's hard to imagine a GMC truck or SUV that doesn't have a Chevrolet twin. Think about it. The Silverado is the Sierra. The Canyon is the Colorado, and the Equinox is the Terrain. To GMC's credit, it's done a better job lately of restyling its cars to give them a more upscale look and feel. However, GMC survived for a reason while Pontiac, Saab and Hummer were killed off during the GM bankruptcy era. A new report is claiming that GMC is seriously looking into moving beyond its current rebadging formula.

GM's new global product chief, Mark Reuss, recently confirmed that we will one day see a non-Chevy GMC model. He didn't divulge any specific details only to say that "the health of GMC is astonishingly good from a consideration standpoint." Back in 2010, GMC revealed its货车车辆-like crossover Granite concept, which it already confirmed won't make production. But if we had to guess, the chances of a future GMC crossover of some sort is the most likely option.
