Fiat 500 Transformed Into Roofless Retro Mini Pickup With Wooden Jump Seats

Tuning /5 Comments

Perfect for a holiday at the beach or the shores of Lake Como.

Italian Coachbuilder Castagna Milano has taken it upon itself to create a new version of the Tender2 roofless seaside vehicle, which itself was an homage to theFiat 500 Jolly by Ghia. While the original Castagna Milano creation from 2008 was based on the gas-powered 500, the new one is built from the bones of the newFiat 500e. It ditches its roof, doors, tailgate, and even rear seats, and in their place, it now sports wooden paneling and even a foldable wicker bench seat in the trunk.

The original Jolly had a lovely canopy roof and wicker seats, making it the perfect companion when you and some friends traveled to the Meditteranean shore. It also only had 17 horsepower and didn't have any seatbelts, but that hasn't stopped them fromfetching six figures at auctions.

一个s for this new spiritual successor, it has all of the trappings of a Jolly but with some welcomed modern additions. Beautiful wood bodywork now traces all the way around the vehicle and throughout the trunk area. The rear deck can be removed for two rear-facing jump seats to double the seating capacity. Speaking of, new black BMW seats have been added (with seatbelts) that appear to have houndstooth inserts that look very similar to the rattan floormats in the original Jolly. The pattern can then be seen on the dash along with brown leather sprinkled about.

The shade of highlighter yellow on the vehicle is an interesting choice, especially because there are contrasting yellow fender flares and side sill pieces as well. So far, we've only seen this color on the new Abarth 500e, andwhile it makes sense there, we can't help but think Ocean Green, Mineral Grey, or even Rose Gold would have suited the model much better. Still, it fits in with Fiat's modernphilosophy of brightly-colored cars.

Everything else about the vehicle appears to be untouched, which is fine with us because it still works very well with the overall design. The pictures, taken at the Mandarin Hotel on Lake Como, Italy, are the perfect backdrop for the electric fair-weather vehicle as it makes it easy to imagine zipping around city streets in the vehicle.

Of course, this is going to be a lot easier this time around, thanks to the electric drivetrain that produces 111 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque, making driving up all those city streets a whole lot easier. Just don't forget to hold on tight if you're sitting in the back.

This appears to be a one-off, and there's no word now on if more will be produced. We hope it does, though, because if we can't getthe adorable Fiat Topolinohere in the US, this 500e conversion would be the next best thing.
