A popular nameplate that aims to give mobility solutions to city dwellers.

Stellantis has resurrected one of Fiat's popular models, the Topolino, into a fully-electric machine that's ideal for the concrete jungle. The new Fiat Topolino is technically not a car but a quadricycle that's based on theCitroen Ami, which debuted back in 2020.

The Topolino's return marks a further step in Fiat's path toward electrification. The Italian automaker also aims to live up to the nameplate's legacy of providing urban mobility - a feat it achieved when it produced the Topolino, otherwise known as the500, from 1936 to 1955.

Fiat revealed a single image of the new Topolino featuring a more straightforward design language when compared to its Citroen counterpart. It has circular headlights housed within a silver trim. Beneath those is another set of round lamps, that act as turn signals.

Curiously enough, the new Topolino doesn't come with doors while the black pillars accent the rather simplistic exterior design. You'll also notice it has a folding fabric roof, a nod to the original Topolino.

Not much has been revealed when it comes to the Topolino's cabin. Based on the image, it has two-tone seats along with a white-and-green accent on the dashboard. And, in case you're wondering, the new Topolino can only accommodate two individuals.

The powertrain details are also yet to be revealed by Fiat. But since it's based on the Citroen Ami, we assume it will have a 5.5-kWh battery that puts out 8 horsepower, an electric range of 47 miles, and a top speed of less than 30 mph.

The new Topolino will almost certainly not be offered in the US. Fiat, however, announced that the biggerFiat 500e will be introduced in the US marketin 2024 with its public launch planned for this November at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Of note, Stellantis' multimodal global mobility hub, Free2Move, is also expanding its operations in the USwith the 500e included in its lineup. This was announced last January 2023 with the goal of expanding the company's reach into Dallas and Pasadena as well as offering a new dealership program.
