The drift event was held at the Pikes Peak International Raceway.

Drifting is one of the most extreme versions of motorsports available to gearheads today, but it was recently taken a little further at an official drift competition that saw a semi-trailer placed in the field of play for competitors to drift under.

Gearheads will always love drift cars and drifting, and fortunately, we have drifting series like Drift Colorado that gather the most skilled drivers for us to enjoy.Hammer FPVon YouTube captured some of the best drifting actions at Round 2 of the Drift Carnival $10K Shootout series held a couple of weeks ago.

The event was hosted at the Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR), and the inclusion of the aforementioned semi-trailer led to some of the epic clips you'll witness in the video below.

The footage also included drone shots flying under the trailer alongside the drifting cars. However, at the 1:28 timestamp, the drone might've gotten too close to comfort as it was seen crashing on the track following Steve Mass's Fox body Ford Mustang Convertible, who finished second overall.

American and JDM cars such as the C6Chevrolet Corvette, Nissan 350Z, Mazda RX-7, and Lexus SC 300 joined the action. Station wagons like the BMW E46 3 Series Wagon also graced the second round. But Mike Pollard, in his Nissan 240SX, bagged the overall champion title with a $5,000 prize money, proving why the S-chassis is one of thebest drift carsaround.

If you want to see more track action from Drift Colorado, the series' third round will happen in July, with the date yet to be announced. The drifters will return at PPIR for the fourth round happening in August.

Another recent motorsport event held in Colorado was the 101st running of thePikes Peak International Hill Climb. One of the entrants was theHonda S2000 by Evasive Motorsports, powered by a bored-out 2.4-liter F20 engine capable of generating as much as 650 horsepower. A 1,400-hp Ford SuperVan was alsodeveloped to conquer the hill.

However something tells us the thrill of drifting under a semi-trailer is a much more exciting spectale for onlookers.
