Demand For The Chevy Trailblazer Is Off The Scale

GM could never have known that theChevrolet Trailblazerwould be such a massive hit. At the current rate, the Trailblazer's sales outstripped supply by 464 percent during the month of September. That equates to a segment share of 12.2 percent for that month. The Chevy Trailblazer isgetting ready for some big changesin 2022, but the manufacturer is stillstruggling with supply issues, and can't seem tokeep up with massive demand. The Trailblazer name was revived for the 2021 model year as a subcompact five-door crossover and slots in between the Chevrolet Trax and Equinox.

Chevrolet has seen massive demand for the RS trim, which features a more aggressive exterior design and sport-themed interior. The ACTIV trim has also been popular and features an adventurous look perfect for young thrill-seekers. The mainstream subcompact crossover sales figures for Q3 2021 show that theHonda HR-Vstill dominates the charts with a quarter-on-quarter increase in sales of 48.4 percent, (from 24,904 units in Q3 of 2020 to 36,957 units in Q3 of 2021). But the Chevrolet Blazer has seen a massive leap of 147.35 percent (10,322 units to 25,531 units). The Honda HR-V's market share grew from 9 percent to 15 percent between Q3 2020 and Q3 2021, and the Trailblazer's share grew from 4 percent to 10 percent.

GM, as with the rest of the automotive manufacturing world, has faced numerous supply issues, and at one point had to stop production due to the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage, but production has returned to full capacity, seeing GM play catchup throughout the rest of 2021. When GM launched the new Trailblazer in 2020 it couldn't have foreseen that it would do so well, but the company clearly has a little cash cow on its hands, and needs to put in the work to get them off the assembly floor ASAP/
