What is Bugatti cooking up here?

The 2020 Geneva Motor Show is right around the corner, and it has hypercar enthusiasts salivating. And for a good reason. For example, Bugatti has been teasing anew version of the Chironthat will debut at the annual Swiss motoring mecca.Spy shotshave shown it will be a more track-focused version of the Chiron that will have a massive fixed rear wing and could be called the Chiron R. However, this might not be the only new special edition Chiron Bugatti is cooking up.

一个video posted on Instagram has captured a mysterious Bugatti Chiron prototype cruising the streets of South Africa and getting caught up in traffic. The brief video isn't great quality and only lasts a few seconds, but the front of the prototype appears to resemble theBugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+that broke the 300-mph barrier last year.

The large air vents look similar to the ones on the Super Sport 300+, but the prototype doesn't have the Super Sport 300+'s distinctive long tail or stacked exhaust tips.

Unlike the rumored Chiron R, this variant doesn't have a massive rear wing so we don't think we're looking at the model that will debut at Geneva. What could Bugatti be cooking up here, then? Well, Bugatti hinted last year thattwo more Chiron variantswill launch in the future after the Super Sport 300+. One of them will focus on power-to-weight ratio, while the other will focus on handling since Bugatti will no longer be chasing speed records after becoming the first manufacturer to break the 300-mph barrier in a production car.

Bugatti also recently unveiled theEdition Noire Sportive第250凯龙星辗轧生产林e, which means the Chiron has started the second half of its production run. In total, 250 Chirons will roll off the production line. Out of those, 150 have already been allocated so there are less than 100 left.

Based on the Chiron Sport, the Edition Noire Sportive will be showcased at Geneva alongside the new mystery Chiron Bugatti has been teasing. Bugatti has also teased it will be "presenting a few interesting surprises in 2020," so it should be an exciting year for Bugatti fans.
