Brabham Just Made The BT62 Even Better

After decades in dormancy, Brabham returned to the track a year and a half ago with the reveal of the BT62 – a track special built for gentleman racers along the lines of theMcLaren SennaGTR,Ferrari FXX-K, orAston Martin Vulcan. And in the months since, it's been tweaking the lineup with improvements and new variants. Like this, the new Brabham BT62 Competition.

Sitting alongside the Ultimate track model and thestreet-legal conversion, the Competition specification of theBrabham BT62is stripped to its bare essentials. Instead of paint, for example, it's wrapped in vinyl.

The interior trim is gone also, leaving just an exposed carbon-fiber cockpit. The passenger seat is gone, as is the package of spares (though both can be added back in).

Everything else stays the same, though – including the 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V8, sending its 700 horsepower and 492 lb-ft of torque through a six-speed sequential gearbox. Also included are the same full-carbon brakes, center-lock wheels, pneumatic jacking system, FIA-compliant carbon-chromoly safety cell, digital instrument cluster, removable multifunction steering wheel, track-tuned ABS and traction control, and aero package delivering a massive 2,645 pounds of downforce... the works.
