2024 Toyota Prius Prime Remains Excellent Value

Pricing /4 Comments

No changes have been made, but the starting price has increased nominally.

The new Toyota Priuswas introduced last yearwith seductive good looks, a premium-feeling interior, and, in the case of thePrius Prime, a surprising turn of speedthat can embarrass bona fide sports cars. The plug-in hybrid derivative has arrived for MY2024 with a price increase. Don't fret, though, as the Prius Prime still represents exceptional value for money. Let's take a look at the new pricing structure.

Starting with the 2024 Prius Prime MSRP, the entry-level SE and mid-spec XSE are now priced at $32,675 and $35,925, respectively, a mere $325 increase over last year's model. The XSE Premium is $200 pricier than before and will now set buyers back $39,370. All prices listed here are exclusive of Toyota's $1,095 delivery fee.

No one welcomes price hikes, but the Prius Prime is only marginally more expensive. It could have been a lot worse -just ask BMW customers.

一个s you would expect, the 2024 Prius Prime soldiers on with no changes. As standard, SE models receive 17-inch wheels with aerodynamic covers, an eight-inch touchscreen, and six-way adjustable front seats upholstered in black fabric with red trim. Additionally, the base model gets a heated and leather-trimmed steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, and six USB-C ports, among other things.

Step up to the XSE, and you'll receive additional features. This includes everything on the SE, plus classy 19-inch wheels, a wireless device charger, and front and rear parking assist. Inside, the seats are trimmed in SofTex faux leather, with the driver benefitting from eight-way adjustability and seat heating. Optionally, the XSE can be equipped with a fixed glass roof, a digital key, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

With that in mind, is it even worth spending the extra money on the XSE Premium?

If you're the type of person who wants all the luxuries, then yes. The XSE Premium carries everything from the SE and XSE and builds on this with an eight-speaker JBL Premium sound system, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a fixed glass roof, and heated/ventilated front seats. The driver's seat gains a practical memory setting, while the liftback gains power operability.

一个neat option on the XSE Premium is the 185Wsolar roof, which can charge the battery while the car is parked in the sun. However, the XSE and XSE Premium fall short in one area: the electric range. Whereas the SE can travel an estimated44 miles on battery power alone, the plusher models manage just 39 miles.

一个s a reminder, the Prius Prime is powered by a 2.0-liter engine with 150 horsepower. This is supported by the 161-hp electric motor, with combined outputs pegged at a respectable 220 hp. Expect the '24 Prius Prime to reach Toyota dealerships in fall 2023.
