Not counting the high-performance AMG model, the SL-Class consists of two trim levels: the 450 and 550. The base-model SL 450 comes equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo V6 that develops 362 hp and 369 lb-ft, while the SL 550 gets a 4.7-liter turbo V8 that produces 449 hp and 516 lb-ft. Rowing the gears on each trim is a nine-speed automatic transmission, which directs the power to the rear wheels. All-wheel-drive is not available.
The SL 450 rides on 19-inch wheels and sports LED headlights and daytime running lights. Standard features include dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and ignition, power heated seats, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, and a panoramic sunroof. A seven-inch touchscreen interface facilitates Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and navigation, while a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system supports SiriusXM, HD Radio, and CD playback. A rearview camera, Pre-Safe, and Attention Assist all come standard. Features added with the step up to the SL 550 comprise ventilated multi-contour front seats, a hands-free power trunk lid, and automatic parking assist.
