2023 Kia Sportage Safety and Reliability

Kia makes some of the safest cars in the world, and that is because it packs even its entry-level models with loads of high-tech safety features. For the Sportage, this includes stability and traction control, ABS, a rearview camera, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, hill start assist, driver attention warning, and rear park distance warning.

Available features include blind-spot assist, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit warning, highway assist, junction turning detection, front park distance warning, reverse collision avoidance, a blind-spot view monitor, and a surround-view camera. There are also six airbags: dual front, front side, and side curtain.

Despite being a new introduction, the Kia Sportage has already been recalled twice These issues include improperly deploying side curtain airbags and loose alternator battery nuts. These issues do not appear to affect hybrid models.

Nevertheless, the Kia Sportage has some of the best reliability expectations, with J.D. Power awarding it 88 out of 100 in that category. Nothing beats the 2023 Kia Sportage's stellar warranty, though. This includes five years/60,000 miles of basic coverage, a whopping ten-year/100,000-mile warranty for the powertrain, and five years/60,000 miles of roadside assistance.
