WRX Special Editions Debut at SEMA

SEMA 2012 /18 Comments

Feeling the Halloween vibe? Subaru has the answer with these special edition rally-bred machines.

With SEMA and Halloween conveniently coinciding, Subaru evidently felt the timing was perfect to reveal a pair of customized models in the form of "Orange and Black" WRX and WRX STI special editions. Subaru is limiting production of the Halloween-themed lineup to just 200 WRX and 100 WRX STI models, deliveries of which will commence in the Spring. The models are distinguished by their Tangerine paint with jet black custom wheels, black fender badging and exterior mirrors, and black exterior graphics.

Inside, the special edition WRX receives a dark interior trim taken from the STI line, along with a black headliner, orange-trimmed floor mats, and orange stitching on the seats, door panels, floor mats and shift boot. The WRX STI gets the same treatment as well as front fog lamps. Under the hood, the turbocharged Subaru boxer engine develops 265 horsepower in the WRX and 305 hp in the WRX STI, the latter running through the Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) version of the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. It also gets the Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) and a Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) systems.
