We've Got Bad News About The 2019 Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition

To celebrate its 80th anniversary, Lincoln is launching aspecial Coach Door Edition of the Continentalas a nod to the suicide doors that graced Continental cars in the 1960s, with doors that open a full 90 degrees to create a grand entrance. There is a catch, however: production of the limited-edition Coach Door Continental is strictly limited to just 80 units for the 2019 model year.

Despite prices being north of $110,000, Lincoln has confirmed the retro-inspired 2019 Continental Coach Door Edition has already sold out. "Response from customers has been extremely positive, with interest exceeding the planned production for the limited-edition run," the company said in a statement. The 80 approved customers will be notified in February before first deliveries start in the summer.

It's not all bad news, however, becauseLincoln plans to produce more Coach Door Continentals for the 2020 model year, but it isn't clear yet how many more will be made. "We're exploring a 2020 model year program - we'll explore at a later date but there are plans to build beyond the 80," Lincoln's Product Marketing Manager, Trevor Scott, recently told us.
