Watch The Hennessey Venom F5 Undergo High-Speed Testing

The 250+ mph hypercar stretches its legs.

The亨尼西Venom F5is still being subjected to a series of tests. While not a top speed run, the boutique company has taken to Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida for an aerodynamic testing session. It also initiates the car's F5 mode which unlocks the full power output.

亨尼西states that the reason for this test is to evaluate the Venom F5's stability at over 250 mph. While we don't have any confirmation of what speed it is traveling at, we can hear the unit accelerate at full throttle as the twin-turbo V8 roars across the testing strip. We're then treated to an up-close shot of the fire-spitting exhaust system.

亨尼西continues to test the Venom F5 despite deliveries having commenced late last year with thefirst ownercollecting theirMojave Gold example. This was the same unit that took the stage at last year's Monterey Car Week in Pebble Beach. Priced at $2.1 million, each unit will be built to the customer's specification and thus, unique in terms of trim and features.

Using the LS V8 as a base, Hennessey has upped the displacement of the block to 7.4-liters and attached a pair of turbochargers to extract 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lb-ft of torque. 1,000 lb-ft of this is available from 2,000 to 8,000 rpm. It translates all of this power to the rear wheels only, using a seven-speed single-clutch semi-automatic transmission.

Despite units still waiting to be built and delivered, the company has already hinted that a more hardcoreVenom F5 GTRis being plotted for those who want a bit more edge on the racetrack. This example will come equipped with enhanced downforce that is superior to the $100,000 Track Package available for the standard model.

Although more downforce and power are on the cards for this variant, the company's boss and founder, John Hennessey, confirmed that electrification would be left out of the equation. The reason for this is that the team is focused on the car as it is. He also admitted that there are desires for the current product to grab the Nurburgring lap record.
