亨尼西Plots Hardcore Venom F5 GTR

Supercars /6 Comments

A more extreme Venom F5 is coming.

Three years after the prototype was revealed, Hennessey presented thefinal production version of the Venom F5last December, a ferocious hypercar capable ofhitting over 300 mph. Powering this beast is a turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 producing a whopping 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lb-ft of torque, enabling the Hennessey Venom F5 to reach 124 mph from a standstill in just 4.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of over 311 mph providing you have a long enough runway. Those are some insane specifications, but Hennessey has hinted that an even more hardcore Venom F5 could happen.

Speaking with Top Gear, John Hennessey admitted that a track-focused, GTR-style Venom F5 generating even higher levels of downforce "would be cool to do."

亨尼西already offers a $100,000 Track Package for the Venom F5 that adds an aggressive aero kit with a larger rear wing, so a hardcore GTR variant will be on another level of insanity.

While a GTR version will likely have more advanced aero components and possibly even more power, Hennessey confirmed it won't resort to electrification to extract more performance out of the Venom F5.

"We'll see what the future holds, but I can tell you that the F5 will only ever be internal combustion," said Hennessey, adding that "there won't be an electrified version." For now, though, Hennessey is "focused on the car as it is" as the priority is to test the production Venom F5 to ensure it achieves the performance Hennesey has promised before customer deliveries begin this year.

"We've got another year's worth of testing for different records we want to set with the car," Hennessey teased, so don't expect a hardcore track-focused derivative to arrive any time soon. One record Hennessey wants to achieve with the Venom F5 is a new Nurburgring lap record.

“我们不是要出去去5minutes or something crazy like that, but we would like to validate a proper lap under seven minutes with the car," said Hennessey.

Watch out Mercedes-AMG, because the GT Black Series may notwear the Nurburgring lap time crownfor much longer. To beat the AMG GT Black Series, the Venom F5 will need to set a lap time under six minutes and 43.616 seconds.
