The fastest production Mustang stood no chance.

Ken Block's Hoonicorn RTR Mustang is one of the coolest drift vehicles ever built. Though it's based on a 1965 Mustang, the Hoonicorn shares almost nothing in common with the original, including a 6.7-liter twin-turbocharged Roush Yates V8boosted up to 1,400 horsepower. The Hoonicorn was specifically built for drifting, but it's still blisteringly quick in a drag race. Block's Hoonigan team has already demonstrated the car's incredible abilities bydestroying a Ferrari F8Tributo in a race andwiping the floor with a Ford GT.

In the latest series of videos from Hoonigan called "Hoonicorn Vs. The World," the team pits the Hoonicorn up against the quickest Mustang that's available right now, the2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. With 760 horsepower from a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 going out to a razor-sharp seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, maybe the GT500 can make this a close race?

After going over the performance specs of the Hoonicorn and the GT500, the two cars are pitted against each other in a standard drag race. Not unexpectedly, the Hoonicorn absolutely obliterates the GT500.

The Shelby GT500 may be able to rip off a quarter-mile in under eleven seconds, but even with its dual-clutch helping to get it off the line smoothly, the Hoonicorn's all-wheel-drive system is too steep of an advantage. The Hoonigan team attempts to eliminate the GT500's rear-wheel-drive disadvantage for the next race by letting it have a 50 mph rolling start while the Hoonicorn starts from a dead stop.

The GT500 flies past the Hoonicorn at the start but with 1,400-hp on tap, Block's Mustang masterpiece quickly tracks down the Shelby. Much to everyone's surprise, the GT500 fended off the Hoonicorn, even winning the race by several car lengths.

They later reveal that the Hoonicorn was running out of gas on the second run, so they decide to re-run it a third time. The GT500 is once again victorious but by less than a car length. This race shows how impressive the Hoonicorn can be even when it is given a massive handicap.
