Watch A Ram 1500 TRX Get Obliterated In A Drag Race

The Hennessey Mammoth 900 is mighty.

There aren't any pickup trucks on the market that can keep up with the 702-horsepower, Hellcat-powered2021 Ram 1500 TRX. Ram says it takes just 4.5 seconds to hit 60 mph, which is blistering for a truck, but independent tests haveclocked it even faster, at under less than 4 seconds. Beating the TRX in a drag race seems like an impossible challenge for an OEM, but not for an aftermarket tuner like Hennessey Performance.

亨尼西offers a Mammoth package for the TRX, which includes a new ECU tune, induction system, supercharger pulleys, and high-flow fuel injectors. As a result of these upgrades, the Hennessey Mammoth 900 featured in this video produces 912 hp and 873 lb-ft. You can probably guess what happens next.

The Mammoth 900 has a clear power advantage in this race since Hennesseydynoed a stock TRXat 583 hp and 571 lb-ft after calculating drivetrain loss. But although the Mammoth is entering the drag race with bigger guns, it's also wearing larger tires. Hennessey equipped the truck with 20-inch wheels wrapped in 37-inch tires, which are heavier than the standard 18-inch wheels with 35-inch tires.

年代o do the wheels and tires hinder the Mammoth's performance in a significant way? Nope. The Hennessey-tuned TRX takes the lead from the get-go and holds it until the end of the quarter-mile. The gap by the end is sizable.

This result is not at all surprising, but we were a bit perplexed to see such a commanding victory even on such large tires. If the Mammoth 900 package isn't crazy enough for you, Hennessey will offer alimited edition Mammoth 1000producing 1,012 hp and 969 lb-ft of torque. Hennessey says this will be the quickest truck it has ever produced, hitting 60 mph in only 3.2 seconds. The tuner only plans to build 200 examples priced at $135,650.
