Watch A 1,300-HP Ford Mustang GT Tear Up The Dyno

Owned by Terry Day, this heavily Ford Mustang GT looks ferocious thanks to its vented hood and custom spoiler, while the racing seats and rollcage hint at its track-driving capabilities. More substantial changes can be found when you pop open the hood, however.

When Terry first approached Palm Beach Dyno to modify his Mustang GT, a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger was installed. With this setup, the Mustang GT achieved a low nine-second run at the quarter-mile. That's impressive considering a stock Mustang GT will complete the quarter-mile in 13.2 seconds, but Terry clearly thinks there's still room for improvement. Since then, the supercharger has been upgraded to a ridiculously large 3.8-liter unit. Terry's Mustang GT also features an upgraded ten-speed RareFab 1500R automatic transmission and an RPG Racing Engine.

To find out how much power this setup produces, Palm Beach Dyno ran a series of dyno tests, and the numbers speak for themselves.

With a 3.75-inch pulley, the Mustang GT pumped out 1,188 hp and 823 lb-ft of torque. As you would expect, the amount of noise it makes is deafening, but the video doesn't do it justice. In the second run, some tuning tweaks increased the output to 1,222 hp and 850 lb-ft. Still not satisfied, the supercharger's 3.75-inch pulley was swapped with a 3.5-inch one, which enabled the Mustang GT to crank out 1,306 hp at the wheels and 908 lb-ft in the first run and 1,298 hp/912 lb-ft in the second run. Palm Beach Dyno promises to take this monster Mustang for a spin out on the track soon, and it should be capable of setting some crazy-fast quarter-mile times.
