Unique Mosler RaptorGTR Available for $700,000

Power-to-weight ratio. Arguably more than 0-60 times, top speed or Nurburgring laps, it stands as the ultimate bragging right for any performance car. And the Mosler RaptorGTR - the same one that appeared inthat weird music videolast year - lays claim to one of the highest in the business. Its turbocharged 7.0-liter V8 produces 838 horsepower which, when combined with its 2580-lb carbon-intensive lightweight construction, gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 649 hp/ton.

That's considerably higher than the more powerful but heavier Bugatti Veyron SuperSport (528 hp/ton), the Pagani Huayra (471 hp/ton), the Ferrari F12 (421 hp/ton) or the Lamborghini Aventador (403 hp/ton). Unfortunately, after years of victories in sportscar racing (where Mosler claims to have scored more podiums per race start than any other manufacturer) and roadgoing supercars that have trounced Ferraris and Lambos in various comparison tests, economic conditions forced Mosler to shut down after building just one RaptorGTR. And that one example is now up for sale.
