The balance of power never stays on one side in the muscle car wars.
At first glance this race is a no-brainer. A gen-six Chevy Camaro SS makes 455 horsepower out of a burbling 6.2-liter V8 but has 3,966 pounds to carry around. Meanwhile, the Mustang GT350 is engineered withthat flat-plane crank V8making 526 horsepower and weighing in at just 3,796 pounds. However, it's 0-60 mph time is 0.2 seconds slower than the Camaro's time of 4.1 seconds. The reason for this lies in the gearbox. The GT350 comes standard with a six-speed manual while the Camaro here has an eight-speed automatic.
In this video the difference a transmission choice can make is present for all to see, despite a few inconsistent launches.
