Toyota 'Tacozilla' Camper Is The Ultimate Overland Tacoma

Two weeks ago, Toyotashowed us the Tacozilla. Based on a ToyotaTacoma TRDSport pickup, the TacozillaTacomaCamper comes with an overlanding-ready 'micro-house'. The retro design was inspired by Toyota campers from the 1970s and 1980s. Initially, only renderings were shown, but now the cool Tacozilla has been revealed in full at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas. Toyota says that the Tacozilla is the "ultimate expression ofoverlanding," and that's obvious based on the concept's long list of features. It's the perfect tool to escape the drudgery of the rat race for a couple of weeks.

The Tacozilla uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. It's got TRD Pro wheels, a TRD suspension with a two-inch lift and TRD billet upper control arms, and bodywork done by Complete Customs in McKinney, Texas. The wheels are wrapped in General Tire Grabber X3 all-terrain tires. A igid light bar, an integrated winch, and a TRD air intake round out the exterior changes.

Of course, this truck is all about the micro-sized house mounted onto the back. The designers didn't have a lot of space to work with but they've made the most of it. The end result is a fully insulated interior with teak sauna-style flooring. The full bathroom includes a hot-water shower.
