一个highly modified Hyundai Tucson like no other is not easy to create.

Hyundai has never come across as a happy-go-lucky brand. In fact, this Korean giant tends to take itself quite seriously, expanding into robotics and basically taking the mobility sphere by the scruff of the neck as it seeks global dominance. The automaker is also getting super serious aboutbuilding affordable EVsandelectrifying the rest of its range, but clearly, someone in the marketing department has been having other, more lighthearted ideas. The brand recently made an appearance in the newSpider-Man moviewith its Ioniq 5 EV, and now it's getting ready for yet another Hollywood premier. Last month, we covered Hyundai's toughened-up Tucson for the newUnchartedfilm featuring Mark Wahlberg, and now we get to see exactly what it takes to convert a humbleHyundai Tucsoninto a Wahlberg-worthy battle machine.

The Hyundai America Technical Center was responsible for turning this humdrum Tucson into the "Beast" and took inspiration directly from theUnchartedvideo game series. The designers had only two weeks to complete the design of the car but managed to pull it off in grand fashion.

The team started by replacing the wheels with Black Rhino Armory wheels in matte gun black and then wrapped them in chunky 33-inch Nitto Trail Grappler tires. The fenders were drastically widened to accommodate the new wheels, and the entire exterior was covered in matte paint for that mean look. For added protection, the designers equipped the Beast with custom-made front and rear bumpers, headlight and taillight guards, and a front skid plate. A steel ARB roof basket was added to carry extra gear and whatever loot Wahlberg happens to pick up along his quest. To help traverse harsh terrain, the Beast also carries two Smittybilt Recovery Utility Tool shovels and a set of Master tow straps.

一个ccording to Hyundai, the Tucson makes for a perfect treasure hunting vehicle as "the Tucson's size makes it agile and easy to maneuver on any adventure." The Tucson features HTRAC all-wheel-drive technology, and three terrain modes; mud, sand, and snow. We'd personally go for a Ford Bronco or an old-school Toyota Land Cruiser for an insane off-roading adventure, but Hollywood focuses more on money than mirroring the modes of transport of true adventure-seekers. If you'd like to see the Tucson tackling tough terrain on-screen,Unchartedis currently playing in cinemas and has already raked in over $300 million at the worldwide box office.
