China's GAC Group has ambitions to become a leading international brand, and its new sports car concept certainly caught our attention. Debuting at the2020 Beijing Auto Show, the Enpulse Concept is a slick-looking electric sports car previewing the company'sTesla Roadsterrival for China. Based on GAC's electronic modular platform, GAC Group hasn't announced any production plans yet, but says the concept is "production feasible."

Styling-wise, the Enpulse Concept is an evolution of the company's Vector Energy design language first showcased on the radically-designedGAC ENO.146concept last year, which boasted better aerodynamics than theBugatti Chiron.

The extremely aerodynamic front design mimics the profile of an aerofoil, while the signum laser arc headlights look very sleek. Dramatic electronically activated Sky Doors that open upwards adorn the sides.

At the rear, a linear light blade dives into the diffusers replicating Formula 1 brake lights and the active aerodynamics are controlled by a twin spoiler. There's a retractable roof, but GAC Group designed the Enpulse Concept to be used primarily as a convertible sports car for open-driving thrills. Formula 1 inspired side mirrors with AI-controlled Poled screens replace the traditional side mirrors.

This is easily one of the best-looking concepts we've seen showcased at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show, so we hope it enters production.

As for the interior, the concept features a minimalist cabin that exposes the car's structure and features racing-inspired seats with two different materials and a classic three-spoke wheel with digital screens. The widescreen comes with advanced navigation, HUD, and "Eco-friendly interaction capabilities" and an augmented reality Virtual Battle mode that allows the driver to race on a physical track against virtual opponents.

Competitors are shown in the HUD and rearview mirror to provide "a realistic experience while minimizing the dangers of physical interaction." Powering the electric sports car concept is a dual motor setup and a high energy density NCM lithium-ion battery, but specifications are being kept under wraps.
