The Volkswagen Tiguan We All Want Is Coming Next Week

Around the middle of last year, Volkswagenrevealed its refreshed Tiguan, and it looks properly handsome. There's also asporty R versionon the way for the first time, as well as acoupe-style Tiguan X. But what large families are waiting for more than either of these speedy and stylish versions is the Allspace, theTiguan's slightly longer seven-seater brother. It's been a long wait, but Volkswagen has finally announced when we can expect the full reveal of the spacious SUV. Its premiere is scheduled for next week Wednesday, May 12. With around 1.5 million sales of this variant since its inception, this is an important model for VW - especially in the US, since we don't get the regular Tiguan.

The regular Tiguan was introduced back in 2007, with the Allspace arriving on the scene ten years later. The regular Tiguan is obviously more successful and has sold over six million units, but more and more people are buying bigger and bigger vehicles, so the seven-seater market is getting more competitive as a concept. Just this week, Honda revealed anew three-row concept, albeit not for the US market, but VW is confident in its new offering. It will take design cues from the regular Tiguan, but we expect that the Allspace will have slightly different accents in some places. On the previous model, the Allspace had a lightly massaged version of the regular Tiguan's hood - not that our market would have noticed.
