The Volkswagen ID.Buzz Has Features You'd Expect In A Rolls-Royce

Maybe not the quality, but the out-of-the-box ideas are there.

一个时间旅行者from 40 years ago wouldn't relate to the interior of a modern car today. Frankly, they'd probably believe they were seatedin a Rolls-Royceif you tried hard enough to convince them. That's largely due to the amount of technology and features packed into the inside of (insert ANY new car model). TheVolkswagen ID.Buzzis no exception, and it looks like VW put an effort into getting all the minute details right inside one of the brand's most important new models.

Most of this was done with the goal of keeping you connected, charged, and at the ready; with a dash of sustainability and retro nods thrown in. Like the outlineof an ID.Buzzstamped into the interior. VW calls the Buzz a "digital living room," which kind of just sounds like any modern living room if you ask us. Still, the extreme effort is there.

The ID.Buzz with have eight total USB ports scattered throughout the interior. Three of those are designed to provide power to whatever you may want to power or charge. Two of those, which will be able to transfer data in addition to charging, are located near the steering column, with a third over on the passenger door.

There will even be USBs in the rear loading compartment. The last three are optional, with one in the interior mirror and two more in the sliding doors. All of them will support rapid charging up to 45 watts, except for the one in the mirror.

You'll have somewhere to put those devices as well, with tray tables on the backs of the front seats. This is the Rolls tie-in we're talking about. We can't name a whole lot of economically-priced cars with the same feature. Those are an option, but one well worth paying for if you have kids.

VW says that the displays in the ID.Buzz will be all digital. Unfortunately, it looks like VW's current UI, complete with silly touch climate controls, will be sticking around for now. Maybe if we"Bulli" Volkswagenmore. The gauges are handled by a 5.3-inch screen, with the center stack controlled by a similar 10-inch unit.

To the left of those frustrating climate, controls will be a column-mounted shifter. VW will also offer both Hello ID. voice control and ID. Light, the brand's new light-based information display. That will display different light pulses to inform the driver.

For example, it'll show whether the vehicle is charging, or if it detects an impending collision. Also on offer will be a number of connected services, including an app that will allow you to check charge status and set the climate control.

It'll be able to be used as a cooler and even comes with a bottle opener and ice scraper. At the front of the box, there will be a hinged compartment for water bottles and the like. At the rear, there's also a much larger compartment for storage of other items. In all, the 'Buzz' is shaping up to have an incredibly versatile interior. We can't wait to check it out.
