The First Production Volkswagen ID. Buzz Has Left The Building

Over in Hannover, Germany, at the Volkswagen Commercial vehicles plant, production of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo has already begun. Now, production of the passenger-focusedVolkswagen ID. Buzzhas just started. Josef Baumert, Chairman of the factory's works council, celebrated the start of production with factory employees.

That plant, along with Zqickau and Emden, is Volkswagen's third electric vehicle production site in Germany. Each of those three sites produces cars从大众的ID。家庭, including modelslike the Buzz and ID. 4.

"The start of serial production of the all-electric ID. Buzz is an important milestone in the electrification of our fleet," said Chairman of Brand Management, Carsten Intra.

Intra went on to say that "the vehicle is a key pillar in the full utilization of our factory and is thus safeguarding the future of the site. Now it's finally here, a moment that the staff at VWCV have worked hard towards over the past years."

Volkswagen has spent the last several years converting the plant to accommodate the new Buzz, which willarrive on American shores for the 2024 model year. That includes the construction of a new body shop and a new section for the assembly of electrical parts on the factory line.

"Over the last two years, the production facility has been continually prepared for the manufacture of the new all-electric vehicles, while the T6.1 and since last year the New Multivan have simultaneously been made here in Hannover", Baumert said. Both of those models, by the way, are for Europe only. However, VW will surely be making American-spec Buzz parts in Hannover, at least until production in the US starts up.
