The Time Is At Hand For Porsche's Sixth Rennsport Reunion

Porsche Design marks this year's Rennsport Reunion the best way it knows how.

Come the last weekend this September, some 60,000 fans are expected to descend on Laguna Seca for Rennsport Reunion VI. And though the festivities will last for three days, in the grand scheme of things, it'll all be over in a blinding flash of classic-racing action. But 70 fortunate Porschephiles will leave with a this memento on their wrists. Created byPorsche Designjust for the occasion, the Chronotimer Rennsport Reunion VI Limited Edition is an汽车timepieceworthy of the Porsche name.

It's based on Porsche Design's fittingly timeless Chronotimer collection, which harkens back to the Chronograph I that was the first matte-black chronograph on the market, drawing its inspiration from the antireflective instrument panels on Porsche race cars. It features a 42-millimeter titanium case, coated in black titanium carbide that's been blasted by glass beads for a fine matte finish. It's powered by a 25-jewel, COSC-certified ETA Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement with a 48-power power reserve. The dial is matte black too, capped by a convex scratch-resistant anti-reflective sapphire crystal. And it's all affixed to the wrist with a red-stitched, perforated calfskin leather strap.

Of course it also features special logos – both on the face and the caseback. And in the grandest style of racing chronographs, it features sub-dials for timing down to the hour, minute, and second, and a tachymeter scale around the bezel. Only 70 examples will be made in honor of Porsche's 70th anniversary (for which the Rennsport Reunion will serve as the premier celebration event in America). They'll each sell for $6,800, but if you miss out, Porsche Design offers other Chronotimer watches from $4,200 all the way up to $9,911.
