The Nissan Z Is MUCH Cheaper Than A GR Supra

It was back in August of last year when the newNissan Zwasfinally revealed to the worldafter what felt like an eternity of teasers and rumors. In the time since, we've been getting little tidbits of information regardingcolor optionsand even rumors surrounding the price of the new sports car. Last we heard, the rumors doing the rounds claimed that the Nissan Z would undercut even the base Toyota GR Supraby around $3,000. Now that the embargo has lifted and driving impressions can be published, Nissan has also allowed pricing to be revealed, and the news is rather good.

Rumors suggested that the cheapest Nissan Z would start at around $40,000 for the base model, and it turns out that this was accurate. In fact, the cheapest Nissan Z starts at $39,990, which is a considerable $3,500 less than a four-cylinder Supra. And with 400 horsepower from its twin-turbo V6, the new Z also makes more power than the 382-hp BMW-sourced straight-six turbo in the Toyota. But what about the Z Performance model and the limited (to 240 units) Proto Spec? Well, these are a little pricier costing $49,990 and $52,990, respectively. All models carry an additional destination fee of $1,025.
