The Most Boring Cadillac Is About To Become A Little Less Boring

And we previously thought it was going to be discontinued.

Cadillac has been on a roll with new product lately, specifically the all-new CT6 flagship sedan. After seeing the Escala concept at Pebble Beach, we're really hoping it too will reach production, perhaps as something even more expensive and grand than the CT6. Time will tell. But for now, Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen, according toGM Authority, is saying that the XTS sedan will soon be given a major refresh. That's surprising consideringwe previously heard that it would be phased out entirely by 2019.

De Nysschen stated that the XTS refresh is "secure and development work is well underway, with very substantial costs already committed." At the moment, we don't know when that refreshed XTS will arrive or the extent of its updates. For the record, the XTS rides on GM's front-wheel-drive Epsilon II platform, which also underpins the new Buick LaCrosse and Chevrolet Impala. It's not that the XTS is a bad car, it's just pretty boring compared with the rest of what Cadillac now offers. On the other hand, the XTS is the vehicle of choice for billionaire investor Warren Buffet.
