The superchargers still provide 250 kW charging speeds but reports suggest the EV maker will ramp it up to 350 kW.

Tesla has begun the expansion of the all-new V4 Tesla Supercharging stalls in the US. Fortunately, u/RealPokePOP onReddithas given us a closer look at a V4 stall to see what we can expect from the updated charging stations.

The most standout features are the credit card reader and CCS1 adapter (also available in V3). If you can't tell by now, these two can support non-Tesla EV owners using the new charging stations. With a credit card reader, individuals who will charge at a Supercharger won't need to sign up for a Tesla account for payment.

Meanwhile, the CCS1 adapter, also referred to as the Magic Dock, allows non-Tesla EVs to become compatible with the V4 stalls. Tesla EVs such as theModel 3and Model X instead come with the brand's very own North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector. But soon, this type of connector will be seen in EV models from other brands.

Ford, Rivian, and General Motors have already agreed to use the NACS connectors.Kia is the first to Korean automakerto announce the switch, whileNissan spearheaded Japanese car brands. Part of the agreement is the access to over 12,000 Tesla Supercharger networks in the US and Canada by 2024. In the following year, participating non-Tesla EVs will feature the NACS connector.

With a flock of automakers joining the club, the two said V4 features and a longer cable should help accommodate more EV owners. The superchargers will also reportedly support350千瓦充电速度of EVs with an 800-volt architecture, such as theKia EV6. No Tesla models can charge at such speeds; the V4 stalls still have the same 250 kW power output as the V3.

The V4 Tesla Supercharger is expanding not only in the US but also in otherparts of the world, including Europe. The first updated charging tech landed in Asia, particularly at Lee Garden One, Causeway Bay in Hong Kong.
