Tesla Just Raised The Price Of The Model S Plaid By $10,000

Tesla's adherence to industry norms is notable only by its absence. The EV automaker does pretty much whatever it wants and very little surprises us anymore. Days ago, Elon Musk confirmed that theTesla Model S PlaidPlus - with its 520-mile range -was being canceledbecause the 'regular' Model S Plaid is good enough. Only Tesla would make a big fuss over a new model and then not allow it to see the light of day. Now, the company has pulled another cheeky and unusual move: the price of the Model S Plaid has been increased by $10,000 just prior to its world debut.

A visit to Tesla's website confirms that the Model S Plaid, now the range-topper, will cost you $129,990, up from $119,990 previously. When it was announced, the Plaid Plus had astarting price of $139,990before any incentives. Now that this model has been canceled, perhaps Tesla took it as an opportunity toraise the regular Plaid's priceas it now no longer has to worry about a too-small price gap between the two sedans. The major difference between the Plaid and Plaid Plus is that the former has a shorter 390-mile range. However, it's still an absolutely breathtaking performer.
