Teaser /Comments

The hardcore racecar will be unveiled in full before the end of the day.

Ford Performance has teased the Mustang Dark Horse R again, following asketch revealed earlier this month, and it gives us our first real-life glimpse at the car. And we really mean 'glimpse' because this short clip barely reveals anything beyond that the car will feature the new Ford Performance visual identityrevealed on the Mustang GT3. However, the post on social media does tell us when the new car will be revealed, and it's later today: July 27 at 7 PM Eastern Standard Time.

This will provide a race-ready version of the S650Ford Mustang Dark Horseto customers who can then use it in various motorsport disciplines, whichFord is very passionate about.

The Dark Horse R was announced earlier this year, as was a Dark Horse S, which features upgraded brakes and Multimatic DSSV dampers, as well as hood pins, a fire suppression system, front and rear tow hooks, a new exhaust system, and an adjustable rear wing. Other things to look forward to include a full FIA-certified safety cell, a race seat, and a quick-release steering wheel, among other things.

The Dark Horse R will get all of the upgrades from the S variant and more, but we'll have to wait for the reveal later today to see what they are. We suspect some of the GT3 car's upgrades will find their way here.

We just had a chance tosample the all-new 2024 Mustangin both GTand EcoBoost guises, and we came away impressed. The Dark Horse will make both of these trims seem somewhat bland, and the R variant will turn things up to 11. It's one of six different motorsport variants of the car, which currently includes the GT4, the GT3, the GT Supercar, and the S, but that's about all we know for now.

Hopefully, the 500-horsepower 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will get a little power bump, but even without it, less weight and more aggressive suspension will make it a joy to drive hard. We'll have all the details for you at 7 PM EST.
